Nancy L. Williams, born to the late David Williams Sr. and Louisa Washington on December 25, 1932, departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of St. James Christian Church in Somerville, Texas, also known to locals as Centerlines or across the creek. Over the years, she served her church with devotion as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk, Mission Teacher, and member of the Sick Committee. She was a proud graduate of Emmitt J. Dixon Bible Institute at Jarvis Christian College.
A graduate of TW Jones High School in Snook, Texas, Nancy was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She became a licensed beautician after completing cosmetology school. She also worked as a custodian at Texas A&M University and in the Data Processing Department at Prairie View University. Nancy spent the final chapter of her career at the Brenham State School, where she retired after 25 years of dedicated service to the state.
Nancy was the epitome of kindness, always ready with warm hugs and a listening ear. She opened her heart and home to anyone in need and showed unwavering support during difficult times. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love were felt by all who knew her. Family was at the core of Nancy's life, and she poured her love and care into her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren. She took great joy in attending her grandchildren & great grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on with pride and encouragement. Nancy also devoted much of her time to caring for her elderly uncles and aunts, with whom she shared a special bond. Daily, Nancy shared many cherished trips with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Verlene Washington.
Nancy had a passion for farming, particularly for her cows. She was always active, whether fixing fences, tending to her garden, or nurturing her beloved flowers, including roses, ivies, and aloe vera plants. She never sat still, always working from sunup to sundown. Her love for fishing, especially enjoying the fresh fish delivered by her fishermen, brought her great joy.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, David Williams Sr and Louisa Washington Williams; brothers, Roscoe Williams and David Williams Jr; sister, Maggie Bell Ward; and nephews, Ernest Ward, James Ward, and James M. Smith.
