Obituary

Dr. Haywood J. Robinson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology, followed by a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of California at Irvine, and a Family Medicine residency at Martin Luther King/Charles R. Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles.

During his residency, Dr. Robinson received abortion training while on the obstetrics and gynecology service. It was at that time that he met Dr. Noreen Johnson, an OB/GYN resident, who was one of his many instructors who taught him the abortion procedure. Discussion regarding the ethics of these procedures or instruction regarding alternatives was not part of the training. Performing abortion requires so little effort, everyone was doing it, and they didn't seem to have a problem with it, so why should he? As the relationship between Drs. Robinson and Johnson progressed, Noreen recruited Haywood to "moonlight" with her in abortion clinics so they could spend more time together. Money became a mutual motivator, especially since the pay was substantial and it was quite evident how abortion training could be profitable. After completion of their respective residency programs in 1981, the two were wed and shortly thereafter moved to Bryan / College Station, Texas. There as the first two Black physicians in Bryan / College Station, Drs. Robinson and Johnson opened their joint private practice. On 2 March 1986, Dr. Robinson came to a saving knowledge of Jesus the Christ and shortly thereafter Dr. Johnson recommitted her life to the Lord. The two were convicted by God's Word, which exposed the living lie they led as hired killers of preborn children. Eventually, they stopped performing and referring for abortions, but continued practicing medicine together until Dr. Robinson retired from their private practice in June 2019. Dr. Johnson passed away 28 August 2021, due to complications from COVID. The book they coauthored, The Scalpel and the Soul: Our Radical Transformation as Husband and Wife Abortion Doctors was released after her death June 2023 and commemorated the Dobbs Decision… the overturning of Roe versus Wade. Dr. Robinson served as a pro-life ambassador and missionary within numerous different arenas of the mission field created by abortion. That would include, but is not limited to, Operation Rescue, on the Board of various Pregnancy Help Organizations, Medical Director for various Pregnancy Medical Centers, the APR (Abortion Pill Reversal) Network amongst others.

As a retired Family Medicine Physician, he began serving as the Director of Medical Affairs and Education for 40 Days for Life in July 2019. He was more than dedicated and beyond passionate about their mission and work. Additionally, he was extremely excited about the life, family, and kingdom impact being made through the novel services of Journey of a Lifetime (JOL). He served in the capacity of Director of

Continuum of Care as well as Board Chair. Utilizing digital technology JOL has served families in 23 different states.

Dr. Robinson found his soulmate and life partner - in EVERY sense of the word - in the former Daphne Harris Nicely, LAS, the Founder, President & CEO of Journey of a Lifetime as well as the Founding Executive Director of the former Atlanta Morning Center (ATLMC). The two met for the first time in person at a pro-life conference on 26 February 2022. This was a God-written long distance love story that began on Thanksgiving Day 2022. Four and half weeks later, after their chaste Christian courtship by phone and text, Haywood flew to California two days after Christmas to ask her parents for her hand in marriage. That evening he and Daphne went on their first date. It was only the third time they had seen each other and Haywood proposed. They were married on Valentine's Day 2023. He called her his Rib Bone. Together, Dr. and Mrs. Robinson collaborated and served internationally in medical missions, family, life, and pregnancy care ministry, abortion recovery, end of life issues, and trauma informed perinatal case management coordination and support. These "pro-life warriors" were given the moniker "The Dynamic Duo" and were in high demand - always on the move, speaking across the nation and around the globe and often joked that they lived at the airport. Aficionados of music, dancing, travel, the culinary arts, and fine dining Dr. and Mrs. Robinson were both avid fans of the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers. Most of all they enjoyed every moment they shared – loving, laughing, and living for God as one – for the glory of God, the advancement of His Kingdom, and the protection of all life created in His image.

He is survived by his doting and devoted wife of 41 months and 10 days Mrs. Daphne Robinson, LAS. Dr. Robinson is also survived by their daughter Dr. Kaishauna Guidry and her husband Javelin of Murrieta, California, grandson Javelin K. Guidry, Yuneisy Hernandez and great granddaughter, Zoe of Los Angeles, California; grandson Elisha and Melanie Guidry of Cleveland, Ohio; granddaughter Kailah Guidry of Fontana, California; daughter, Udelle Robinson and granddaughter Zaire of Austin, Texas; daughter, Dr. Riva Robinson and her husband Sean Meador and grandson, Isaac of Austin, Texas; Weaver Nicely of Atlanta, Georgia; bonus children Dr. Virginia Smith and her husband "Fitz" Dodd of Dallas, Texas; and Clay Hines of Austin, Texas. Haywood is also survived by his twin brother, Howard Robinson and his wife, Sheila of Bryan, Texas; as well as the family he gained through his covenant marriage to Daphne – parents George and Carolyn Harris of Windsor Hills, California; brother George and Wilnoma Harris of Harbor City, California; Crystal and Thomas of Westerville, Ohio; Julia and Primitivo Núñez of Carson, California and Carole and Javier Dircio of Windsor Hills, California; additionally, extended family and friends across the U.S.A. and a host of colleagues and co-laborers around the globe promoting life and the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.

Dr. Robinson was preceded in death by his son Daniel Steveland Robinson (1973); his parents Jamea and Elsie Robinson; and his late wife, Dr. Noreen Johnson, M.D. (2021).
